Surgery place

Operations are performed in the private hospital Luxmed in Warsaw at ul. Puławska 455. Surgical department is small, well-kept and quiet. An anesthesiologist is constantly on call. Due to the cooperation with Professor Orlowski Independent Public Central Clinical Hospital at ul. Czerniakowska 231 in Warsaw there is the possibility of assistance in complicated cases.

Surgery term

Term of the operation is planned according to patients’ wish. An operation is usually possible 2-3 weeks after consultations during which the patient is refferd to surgical treatment. Operations typically take place often 15.30 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. One week before the surgery, the patient is asked to perform laboratory tests and imaging. Later with the results of the lab tests, anesthesiologist consults the patient to confirm that health state is appropriate to anaesthesia needed to perform the surgical procedure. During this meeting, you can ask anesthesiologist about anaesthesia.

Hospital stay lasts from 1 to 2-3 days. Information on the details of surgery term, required lab tests before the operation and setting the appointment with an anesthesiologist are coordinated by patient care assistant.

Before the surgery

Weight reduction before the operation

If you are overweight, you should reduce your weight before surgery.
It can be achieved both through diet as well as daily physical exercise. It will improve the state of the body and contriugte to the faster recovery after the operation. You have to stay entirely on an empty stomach (it means without eating and drinking) six hours before the procedure.

Patient’s health questionnaire

After deciding for the surgery you should complete the patient’s health questionnaire. You will find many questions considering your general health status e/g. past and current ailments, medications and diseases. The aim of this questionnaire is to obtain accurate information on your health and the factors that can affect the process of your treatment.

Laboratory tests result before the surgery

They are used to assess the condition of the patient and whether the operation can be safely carried out. The scheduled operation can be performed while the patient is in good health. When it is possible to improve your health status, you need to do it before the operation. Before the procedure blood tests and examinations evaluating the state of your lungs and heart (chest x-ray, electrocardiogram) are performed. When you are under the constant care of any specialist, it must be denounced: how should you proceed in the period of the operation, intake your drugs and what should especially pay our attention.

Anaesthetic consultation

Elective surgery requires consultation with an anesthesiologist at least one day before the surgery.

The term of anesthesiology consultation is determined by phone. During this consultation, you must provide medical documentation for current and past illnesses and the last lab results and specialist consultations. Anesthesiologist evaluates the safety of anaesthesia and the patient’s eligibility for surgery.
